Outside the Lines is a performing arts studio. Our building is The Scene on Beaton which is available for parties, meetings and events.

Our mission: To provide our community with a space to create and a creative space.

OTL offers improv and dance classes for kids and teens, Wine and Improv for adults, Open Mic Nights, Partner Dancing with Rudy Gonzalez plus special events and workshops like Family Improv, Santa’s Workshop, Vendor Market’s, etc.  We also offer party and event entertainment and team building workshops.

The Scene on Beaton is available for rent. (Please visit The Scene Event Rental tab for more info.)

So why did we name our studio Outside the Lines? We do a lot of improvisation which is a performance medium made up on the spot using audience suggestions. There is no script, so the show takes place Outside the Lines. Our name also encompasses our mission to provide a safe place for people to stretch their comfort zones, think outside the box, and color their lives outside the parameters they’ve previously drawn for themselves.

We love working with kids and adults and diving into all kinds of creative endeavors. We teach dance, music, acting, and improv. We perform shows in our spot in downtown Corsicana and at community and business events. We offer team building and corporate training workshops. We host Wine and Improv socials where we all play, hang out and laugh a lot. We direct plays.  We choreograph wedding dances (seriously). If it’s fun and creative, we are on board.

OTL is owned by us, Julie Mitchell and Markus Baldwin. Julie grew up in Corsicana and met Markus in Los Angeles where they were both working actors, film producers, directors, and writers. We also taught acting, dance and improv at some of the most popular training facilities in LA. Julie continues to teach improv classes at Four Day Weekend in Dallas.

We are so happy to open our own creative space in downtown Corsicana as we continue our acting and film work out of Dallas and Austin.

Let us lead your next corporate training, team building, or staff development workshops using improvisation. We’ll entertain your employees, teachers, and crew while they learn some of the basic tenants of improv; listening, building off other team member’s ideas, supporting each other, embracing new concepts, and making bold choices. The best part is that they’ll laugh all the way through the workshop.

We’re also available for customized entertainment for parties and events. Let us “Improv Your Birthday” with a show that centers around  your stories, favorite things, and friends. You can also Improv Your Office Party or  Improv Your Holiday,

If you have a fun idea for our space, run it by us. Our goal is to facilitate creative endeavors in our community.
